Flora lives in a Hampshire village where regular walks through woodland copse and wild meadows provide constant inspiration for her work. Her collections of found objects, often from her garden, are used to print directly into paintings.

Using the processes of drawing with wire and ink; the technique of creating a line in space is developed into a 3D object or a sculptural wall based piece.

“It is the movement and colour of the wire that attracts me”

Exploring contrasting relationships between the colour of the copper and ink; fluid wire and printed marks;
linear and solid; 2D and 3D; light and dark.

In 2020 her son was diagnosed with a brain tumour and went through extensive surgery and treatment. Having a Christian faith gave her the strength needed to endure that. His recovery is an ongoing journey, but coming out the other side and setting up a studio space, has been an important part of the healing process.

Flora completed an MA in Sculpture at Winchester School of Art in 1998 and has since undertaken commissions and exhibitions widely across the UK, as well as teaching in adult education. She currently leads a variety of Drawing With Wire sculpture workshops at City Arts, Newbury, The Base, Greenham and The Farnham Maltings, Surrey. She also offers private small group bespoke workshops in her studio. Please contact her for more details.
